My Code of Practice

Marriage celebrants in Australia must be authorised by the Federal Attorney-General, having completed appropriate training and been shown to be a ‘fit and proper person’, and are bound by the provisions of the Marriage Act and Regulations, which include a Code of Conduct for celebrants.
(Schedule 1A, Marriage Regulations 1963

So what does this have to do with me?  I am committed to working within the guidelines of the Code of Practice, which demands the highest standards of honesty, discretion, professional integrity and service to all clients who seek my services.
As an experienced, professional marriage celebrant, I am committed to:

  • be punctual for all meetings, rehearsals and most especially, on your wedding day
never book weddings too close together, so that you have my total and unhurried attention    on your day
  • keep all information and records confidential and securely stored in accordance with the Marriage Act and the Privacy Act
  • administer all related legal paperwork in an organised and timely fashion to comply with the requirements of the Marriage Act
  • be courteous, accommodating, helpful and friendly in all my dealings with clients
  • give freely of my time and knowledge to ensure that each couple has my full attention, care support and guidance for the duration of our working relationship, including on your wedding day
  • dress in good taste, and appropriately for your wedding ceremony
  • ensure that all your guests can hear your ceremony, providing a public address system where necessary to ensure that your ceremony is audible.

Many reputable celebrants are members of professional associations, which aim to promote and maintain high standards of conduct and service within the industry. These large industry umbrella groups uphold the Code of Conduct and endorse high standards of professionalism.  They are active in representing to the Federal Government the interests of members, to ensure that these standards are maintained.

I am a member of:
Australian Marriage Celebrants Incorporated

(currently serving actively on the Executive Committee of AMC)
Australian Federation of Civil Celebrants

And the bottom line of all this is that your wedding is unique, and you are uniquely important to me.  I am dedicated to doing my utmost as a wedding professional to ensure that you have full confidence in me as your celebrant, and that your marriage ceremony will not only be efficiently administered and stress-free, but magical and romantic, and one which you will cherish in your heart and in your memory for ever.
